that there was a bacteria found in california that survives off of arsenic. Once thought poisonous to all life, arsenic is rich in the universe. This increases the claim of life outside of earth. pretttyyyy crazyyyyy stuff!!

Maybe this is just a function of evolution here on earth seeing as arsenic is rather abundant on this planet. Just $0.02 from an alcoholic bio major from JMU. Haven't actually read the whole article and I'm def not saying that life outside of Earth doesn't exist, but just my initial reaction

Whether that is true or not, it still means that arsenic can be used to make DNA, not just phosphorus like previously thought. The implication of this is that in planetary bodies that have arsenic, there is an increased chance that amino acids have binded with arsenic, thus bacterial life forms are therefore more likely.Jnymack123 wrote:Maybe this is just a function of evolution here on earth seeing as arsenic is rather abundant on this planet.

So arsenic is functioning as the backbone of DNA with these organisms?? That is quite interesting seeing as its the first observation I know of.

I got over it and decided that if people are going to use it against me (Martin and Megan) then I might as well ignore it and have some gun with it
